*Pool-Code Aluminum Fencing
Aluminum pool fencing must meet specific safety requirements designed to help restrict unsupervised access to the pool area.
Typical pool-barrier requirements include:
- Fence Height: Minimum 48″ high measured from the outside grade.
- Ground Clearance: Maximum 2″ clearance between the bottom of the fence and the ground.
- Picket Openings: Openings between vertical pickets cannot exceed 4″.
- Horizontal Rail Spacing: The distance between horizontal rails must be at least 46″. If the rails are less than 46″ apart, openings between vertical pickets must be less than 1¾” to help prevent climbing.
- Gate Direction: Gates must swing outward, away from the pool area.
- Self-Closing & Self-Latching: Pool gates must be equipped with functioning self-closing and self-latching hardware.
- Latch Placement: Gate latches must meet required 54″ height and placement requirements to prevent access by small children.
